Toronto is an unpretentious city with an unpretentious food scene. Unlike many Canadian cities, the locals don’t try to shove local dishes and culture down your throat. Toronto simply makes the best food with what they have available to them, and thankfully what they do have is delicious.
Pangaea Restaurant is an excellent restaurant that’s been in business since 1996 and is located downtown on Bay Street. They serve classical Italian dishes from the head chef’s home town with a modern northern twist. Pangaea’s food is made up of simple ingredients that have been prepared perfectly. They’re deserts and pastries have also been voted the best in town.
JW’s Steakhouse is another Toronto eating institution with a big reputation. What’s so big about it? Well for starters their featured dish is a twenty-two ounce bone in fillet served with a jumbo baked potato. The also have one of the biggest shrimp cocktails we’ve ever seen!
One of the hallmarks of Toronto has to be Restaurant 360 at the top of the famous CN tower. Overlooking the whole city, the view is simply stunning. There’s no restaurant in the city, and arguably in all of Canada that can compete with their view. They also have an impressively stocked wine cellar featuring over 550 varieties of local and imported wines. Toronto is a fabulous city that has dozens of gourmet quality restaurants, too many to fit on this small list. No matter your taste in food, Toronto has something good on the menu for you.
